In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, soy sauce, brown sugar, and apple cider vinegar. Stir until well mixed.

Combine the Base Ingredients

Add garlic powder, onion powder, ground ginger, and red pepper flakes to the saucepan. Stir to combine all ingredients thoroughly.

Make the BBQ Sauce

Heat the mixture over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will help to meld the flavors together.

Remove the silver skin from the back of the pork ribs. This will help the meat absorb the flavors of the sauce better.

Prepare the Ribs

Generously season both sides of the ribs with salt and black pepper. Allow the ribs to marinate for at least 30 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate for up to 2 hours.

Preheat your grill to medium heat (about 150-175°C or 300-350°F).

Place the ribs on the grill, bone side down. Cook for about 2 to 3 hours, turning every 30 minutes and basting with the BBQ sauce during the last 30 minutes of cooking.

The ribs should be tender and the meat should pull away from the bone easily. If they are not done, continue cooking and checking every 10 minutes.

Check for Doneness

Once cooked, remove the ribs from the grill and let them rest for about 10 minutes. Slice them into individual portions and serve with additional BBQ sauce on the side.

Trim excess fat from the beef brisket, leaving about 1/4 inch of fat for flavor. Remove the membrane from the pork ribs.

Prepare the Meat

In a bowl, combine brown sugar, paprika, black pepper, salt, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.

Make the Rub

Generously rub the spice mixture all over the beef brisket and pork ribs. Make sure to cover all sides. Let the meat sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.

Apply the Rub

Soak the hickory wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes before grilling. Preheat your grill or smoker to 225°F (107°C).

Prepare the Grill/Smoker

Place the beef brisket and pork ribs on the grill or smoker. Add the soaked hickory wood chips to the smoker box or directly on the coals. Close the lid.

Cook the Meat

Cook for about 6-8 hours, or until the internal temperature of the brisket reaches 195°F (90°C) and the ribs are tender and pulling away from the bone.

Monitor Cooking Time

In a saucepan, combine ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally until it thickens.

Once the meat is cooked, remove it from the grill/smoker and let it rest for 20 minutes. Slice the brisket against the grain and serve with the pork ribs and BBQ sauce.

Add Seasonings

Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Allow it to simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.

If desired, add liquid smoke and hot sauce to the mixture during the last 5 minutes of simmering for an extra flavor boost.

In a large glass or pitcher, pour the remaining 1 cup of carbonated water. Slowly add the prepared syrup mixture while gently stirring to retain carbonation.
