Pork
Buns & Toppings
Method
Preparing the Pulled Pork
- 1
Season the Pork
In a small bowl, mix together salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and brown sugar. Rub this spice mixture all over the pork shoulder.
- 2
Slow Cook
Place the seasoned pork shoulder into a slow cooker. Pour the apple cider vinegar over the pork. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours or until the pork is tender and easily shreds with a fork.
- 3
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and place it on a cutting board. Use two forks to shred the pork into bite-sized pieces. Return the shredded pork to the slow cooker and mix with barbecue sauce. Let it warm for an additional 30 minutes.
Assembling the Sandwiches
- 4
Prepare the Buns
While the pork is warming, toast the hamburger buns lightly if desired.
- 5
Build the Sandwich
Place a generous portion of the pulled pork on the bottom half of each bun. Top with coleslaw and pickles. Close with the top half of the bun.
- 6
Serve
Serve the sandwiches warm with extra barbecue sauce on the side if desired.
