Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and cornstarch. Season with salt and black pepper. Dredge the calamari strips in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep frying pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 3
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the calamari strips to the hot oil in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 4
Make the Garlic Sauce
In a separate saucepan, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing until fragrant, about 1 minute. Remove from heat and add lemon juice.
- 5
Serve
Toss the fried calamari in the garlic sauce until evenly coated. Serve immediately with house marinara for dipping.
