Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Beans

Rinse the fava and garbanzo beans under cold water. Soak them in a large bowl of water overnight, ensuring they are covered by at least 2 inches of water.

  2. 2

    Cook the Beans

Drain the soaked beans and transfer them to a large pot. Add 6 cups of fresh water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a simmer and cook for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the beans are tender.

  3. 3

    Make the Broth

In a blender, combine the garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Blend until smooth, then add this mixture to the cooked beans in the pot.

  4. 4

    Add Peppers and Parsley

Stir in the chopped bell peppers and parsley into the pot. Allow the mixture to simmer for an additional 10 minutes to meld the flavors.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve hot, drizzling more olive oil on top if desired. Enjoy with pita or flatbread.
