Casserole Preparation
1. Prepare the Green Beans
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Trim the ends of the green beans and blanch them in boiling water for about 5 minutes. Drain and set aside.
2. Mix the Casserole Base
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, and black pepper. Stir until smooth.
3. Combine Ingredients
Add the blanched green beans and 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese to the soup mixture. Stir until the green beans are evenly coated.
4. Bake the Casserole
Transfer the mixture into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.
5. Add Crispy Onions
Remove the baking dish from the oven and sprinkle the remaining 0.5 cup of crispy fried onions on top of the casserole. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the onions are golden brown.
6. Serve
