Stopped in before a show at the Nashua Arts Center. BEST gyro I've ever had! Tender meat, fresh wrap and veggies. My wife had the lamb kabob with rice. Also excellent. Baklava was excellent! We will be traveling from the Great North Woods to visit again. Owner and staff were fantastic.

Gyro Ingredients

Method

Gyro Directions

1

Prepare the Meat

In a large bowl, combine ground lamb, minced garlic, oregano, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

2

Shape the Gyros

Form the meat mixture into oval patties or logs that will fit into the pita bread.

3

Cook the Gyros

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 5-7 minutes on each side or until fully cooked and browned.

4

Assemble the Gyros

Warm the pita bread slightly. Place the cooked meat inside the pita and top with sliced tomatoes, red onion, lettuce, and a generous amount of tzatziki sauce.

Lamb Kabob Directions

5

Marinate the Lamb

In a bowl, combine cubed lamb, bell pepper, red onion, olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.

6

Prepare Skewers

Thread the marinated lamb and vegetables onto skewers, alternating between meat and veggies.

7

Grill the Kabobs

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat. Grill the kabobs for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the lamb is cooked to your desired doneness.

8

Serve with Rice

Serve the grilled kabobs over a bed of cooked rice.

Baklava Directions

9

Prepare the Nut Filling

In a bowl, mix chopped nuts with sugar and ground cinnamon.

10

Layer the Phyllo Dough

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Brush a baking dish with melted butter. Layer 8 sheets of phyllo dough in the dish, brushing each layer with butter.

11

Add Nut Filling

Spread a layer of the nut mixture over the phyllo dough. Repeat the layering process (phyllo + butter + nuts) until all ingredients are used, finishing with 8 layers of phyllo on top.

12

Bake the Baklava

Cut the baklava into diamond shapes and bake for about 45 minutes, or until golden brown.

13

Make the Syrup

While the baklava is baking, combine water and honey in a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes. Pour over the hot baklava as soon as it comes out of the oven.

14

Cool and Serve

Allow the baklava to cool completely before serving to allow the syrup to soak in.
