Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Chicken

In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. Whisk until well mixed. Add the chicken leg quarters to the bowl, ensuring they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coating

In a separate bowl, add the all-purpose flour. Season the flour with additional salt and pepper if desired. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Dredge the Chicken

Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each leg quarter in the seasoned flour until well coated. Shake off any excess flour.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Chicken

Carefully place the coated chicken leg quarters in the hot oil, skin side down. Fry for about 10-12 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C).

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oil and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy!
