Chai Tea Syrup

Method

Chai Tea Syrup

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chai Tea Syrup

In a medium saucepan, combine 2 cups of water, 1 cup of brown sugar, and the chai tea bags. Stir to dissolve the sugar.

  2. 2

    Add Spices

Add the cinnamon stick, sliced ginger, cloves, and crushed cardamom pods to the saucepan.

  3. 3

    Simmer

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  4. 4

    Strain and Cool

Remove from heat, strain the syrup into a jar, and let it cool completely. Discard the solids.

Egg Nog

  1. 5

    Whisk Eggs and Sugar

In a large bowl, whisk together 4 large eggs and 1 cup of granulated sugar until well combined and slightly frothy.

  2. 6

    Add Milk and Cream

Gradually whisk in 2 cups of milk and 1 cup of heavy cream until the mixture is smooth.

  3. 7

    Flavor the Egg Nog

Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and a pinch of salt to the mixture, stirring well.

  4. 8

    Combine with Chai Syrup

Stir in the prepared chai tea syrup to the egg nog mixture, adjusting the amount to taste.

  5. 9

    Chill

Cover and refrigerate the chai tea nog for at least 2 hours to chill and develop flavors.
