Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filling

In a large skillet, heat a little oil over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent. Add garlic and sauté for another minute. Add the ground meat, parsley, cumin, salt, and pepper. Cook until the meat is browned. Remove from heat and let it cool.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the warm water, egg, and vegetable oil. Mix until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-10 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Assemble Chiburekki

Divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each ball into a thin circle. Place a spoonful of the meat filling on one half of the circle and fold the other half over to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges to seal, using a fork to crimp.

  4. 4

    Fry the Chiburekki

Heat oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat. Fry the chiburekki in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce or yogurt.
