Ingredients

Dumpling Dough

General Ingredients

Preparation

Dough Preparation

1. Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the eggs and water. Mix until a dough forms.

2. Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Wrap in plastic wrap and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Filling Preparation

3. Prepare the Filling

In a mixing bowl, combine ground meat, finely chopped onions, salt, pepper, and any additional spices of your choice. Mix well until thoroughly combined.

Dumpling Assembly

4. Roll Out the Dough

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the rested dough to about 1/8 inch thickness.

5. Cut the Dough

Using a round cutter or glass, cut out circles from the dough, about 3 inches in diameter.

6. Fill the Dumplings

Place a small spoonful of the meat filling in the center of each dough circle. Be careful not to overfill.

7. Seal the Dumplings

Fold the dough over the filling to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges firmly to seal, ensuring there are no air pockets.

Cooking

8. Boil the Dumplings

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the dumplings in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot.

9. Cook Until Done

Cook the dumplings for about 5-7 minutes or until they float to the top and are cooked through.

10. Drain the Dumplings

Using a slotted spoon, remove the dumplings from the water and drain them well.

Serving

11. Serve Hot

Serve the pelmeni hot, optionally with sour cream, butter, or your choice of dip.
