Preparation Instructions

1

Prepare the Ingredients

Slice the tomato and onion, wash the lettuce, and set aside the pickles.

2

Form the Patties

Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions (about 4 ounces each). Gently form them into loose balls; do not compact them tightly.

3

Heat the Skillet

Heat a cast-iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Add a tablespoon of butter to the skillet.

4

Smash the Patties

Once the skillet is hot, place the beef balls onto the skillet and smash them down with a spatula to form thin patties. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the edges are crispy.

5

Add Cheese

Flip the patties, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty, and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.

6

Toast the Buns

In a separate pan, melt the remaining butter and toast the burger buns until golden brown.

7

Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each bun, layer lettuce, tomato slices, the smashed patty with melted cheese, pickles, and onions. Top with the other half of the bun.

8

Serve

Serve immediately with fries, tater tots, or a shake on the side.
