Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Brown the Veal

In a large pot, heat some oil over medium-high heat. Add the veal chunks and brown on all sides. Remove the veal and set aside.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same pot, add the chopped onions and garlic. Sauté until translucent. Then add the carrots, potatoes, and diced tomato, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Add Spices

Stir in the cumin, coriander, turmeric, black pepper, salt, cardamom, and cinnamon. Mix well.

  4. 4

    Combine Ingredients

Return the browned veal to the pot and pour in the water or beef broth. Bring to a boil.

  5. 5

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 2 hours, or until the veal is tender.

Serving

  1. 6

Transfer to Hot Lava Stone Pot

Once the veal is tender, transfer the stew to a super-heated hot lava stone pot for serving.

  2. 7

    Serve with Bread

Serve the Fahsa hot with fresh Yemeni bread on the side.
