Ingredients for Deep Fried Chicken Biscuit

Method

Cooking Directions for Deep Fried Chicken Biscuit

1

Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, combine the chicken thighs and buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.

2

Prepare the Biscuit Dough

In a large bowl, mix the biscuit mix with cold water according to the package instructions. Form into biscuits and set aside.

3

Prepare the Sausage Gravy

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bulk sausage until browned. Sprinkle in the flour and stir for a minute. Gradually add the milk, whisking until smooth. Simmer until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

4

Fry the Chicken

In a separate bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, pepper, and paprika. Remove the chicken from the marinade, letting excess buttermilk drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture and fry in hot oil (350°F/175°C) until golden brown and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels.

5

Cook the Biscuits

While the chicken is frying, bake the prepared biscuits according to package instructions until golden brown.

6

Fry the Eggs

In a skillet, fry the eggs sunny-side up or to your desired doneness.

7

Assemble the Dish

Place a biscuit on each plate, top with fried chicken, pour sausage gravy over the top, and add a fried egg on the side.
