Marinade

Method

Marinade Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Marinade

In a medium bowl, whisk together soy sauce, lime juice, fish sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, and red chili flakes until well combined.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the skirt steak in a large resealable plastic bag or shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is fully coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or preferably overnight for maximum flavor.

Grilling the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat. Ensure the grates are clean and oiled to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Grill the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade. Grill the skirt steak for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. For medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 130°F (54°C).

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Once grilled, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

Preparing the Salad

  1. 6

    Prepare the Salad Base

In a large bowl, combine mixed salad greens, sliced cucumber, shredded carrots, and halved cherry tomatoes. Toss gently to mix.

  2. 7

    Prepare the Rice Sticks

In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil. Add rice sticks and cook according to package instructions until soft. Drain and set aside.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Slice the Steak

After resting, slice the skirt steak against the grain into thin strips.

  2. 9

    Assemble the Dish

On a large serving platter, place a generous amount of the salad base. Top it with sliced skirt steak and scatter the cooked rice sticks on top for crunch.

  3. 10

    Serve

Serve immediately while the steak is warm, and enjoy your Tower Monte Cristo!
