Biscuits
Method
Preparation
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
Cut in Butter
Add the cold unsalted butter to the flour mixture. Use a pastry cutter or your fingers to cut the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Add Buttermilk
Make a well in the center of the mixture and pour in the buttermilk. Stir gently until just combined; do not overmix.
Shape Biscuits
Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently pat it to about 1-inch thickness. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
Cool and Serve
Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving warm with house-made fruit preserves.
