Candy Ingredients

Method

Candy Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Gelatin

In a small bowl, sprinkle gelatin powder over 1 cup of cold water. Let it sit for about 5 minutes to bloom.

  2. 2

    Cook the Mixture

In a saucepan, combine granulated sugar, corn syrup, and the remaining cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Bring to a boil and then remove from heat.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Stir in the bloomed gelatin mixture and sour ale into the sugar mixture until fully combined. Add citric acid, flavoring, and food coloring if desired.

  4. 4

    Mold the Candy

Pour the mixture into a silicone candy mold or a greased baking dish. Let it sit at room temperature for at least 4 hours or until set.

  5. 5

    Cut and Coat

Once set, remove the candy from the mold or dish and cut into strips. Toss the strips in granulated sugar for added sweetness and texture.

  6. 6

    Store and Enjoy

Store the sour stripes in an airtight container at room temperature. Enjoy your sour gummy sour ale candy!
