Fried Mac & Cheese

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the macaroni

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the cheese mixture

In a large bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, cheddar cheese, cream cheese, and eggs. Mix until well combined.

  3. 3

    Chill the mixture

Spread the mac and cheese mixture into a greased baking dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or until firm.

  4. 4

    Prepare for frying

Once chilled, cut the mac and cheese into squares or desired shapes. Set up a breading station with flour, beaten eggs, and bread crumbs.

  5. 5

    Bread the mac and cheese

Coat each piece of mac and cheese first in flour, then dip in beaten eggs, and finally coat with bread crumbs.

  6. 6

    Fry the mac and cheese

In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Fry the breaded mac and cheese pieces until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.

  7. 7

    Prepare the BBQ ranch

In a small bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce and ranch dressing until well combined.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve the fried mac and cheese hot with BBQ ranch on the side for dipping.
