Cake Preparation

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, and baking powder.

3. Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.

4. Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined. Stir in vanilla extract and shredded coconut.

5. Bake the Cake

Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

6. Cool the Cakes

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn out onto wire racks to cool completely.

7. Prepare for Serving

Once cooled, layer the cakes and sprinkle toasted almond slices on top. Optionally, frost with vanilla cream or serve with whipped cream.
