Okra Ingredients

Method

Preparation Directions

1

Prepare the Okra

Wash the okra and cut off the tops and tails. Slice them into half-inch thick pieces.

2

Make the Batter

In a bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.

3

Coat the Okra

Dip each okra piece into the egg mixture, then coat it in the cornmeal mixture until well covered.

4

Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot.

5

Fry the Okra

Carefully add the coated okra to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.

6

Drain and Serve

Remove the fried okra from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with Jones sauce on the side.
