Cake Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk until well blended.

3

Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, mix the eggs, Coca-Cola, buttermilk, vanilla extract, and vegetable oil until smooth.

4

Combine Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

5

Bake the Cake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6

Cool the Cake

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Frosting Preparation

7

Prepare Frosting

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the cocoa powder and mix until smooth.

8

Combine with Sugar

Remove from heat and gradually add in the powdered sugar, mixing well. Add milk and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.

9

Frost the Cake

Once the cake is completely cool, spread the frosting evenly over the top.

Garnishing

10

Add Garnish

Top the frosted cake with candied lime slices, crushed pecan brittle, and Luxardo cherries for an elegant finish.
