Bread Pudding

Method

Bread Pudding

  1. 1

    Prepare the Bread

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Tear the stale bread into bite-sized pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl.

  2. 2

    Mix the Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Bread and Mixture

Pour the wet mixture over the bread pieces, making sure all the bread is soaked. If using raisins or dried fruit, add them now and gently fold everything together.

  4. 4

    Bake the Pudding

Transfer the mixture to a greased baking dish (about 9x13 inches). Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

Vanilla Sauce

  1. 5

    Melt the Butter

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.

  2. 6

    Combine Sauce Ingredients

Once the butter is melted, stir in the granulated sugar, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Bring to a gentle simmer, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved and the sauce is smooth.

  3. 7

    Serve

Remove from heat and let it cool slightly. Serve warm over the bread pudding.
