Cream Cheese Icing

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine 1/4 cup of warm milk, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and the yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until bubbly.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, remaining sugar, and salt. In a saucepan, heat the remaining milk and butter until the butter melts. Allow it to cool slightly, then add the yeast mixture and eggs. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.

  4. 4

    Let it Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling and Rolling

  1. 5

    Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, mix the brown sugar and cinnamon together. Melt the butter for spreading on the dough.

  2. 6

    Roll the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4 inch thick.

  3. 7

    Add Filling

Spread the melted butter over the dough, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.

  4. 8

    Form Cinnamon Rolls

Starting from one edge, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces.

  5. 9

    Second Rise

Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let them rise for another 30 minutes.

Baking and Icing

  1. 10

    Bake the Rolls

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.

  2. 11

    Prepare the Icing

While the rolls are baking, beat the cream cheese with powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.

  3. 12

    Icing the Rolls

Once the rolls are out of the oven, let them cool slightly before drizzling the cream cheese icing on top.
