1. Prepare the Chickpeas
Rinse and drain the canned chickpeas. Reserve a few whole chickpeas for topping later.
2. Make the Hummus Base
In a food processor, combine the drained chickpeas, tahini, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and paprika. Blend until smooth, adding water as needed to achieve a creamy consistency.
3. Prepare for Baking
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread the hummus mixture in a baking dish evenly.
4. Top with Fried Chickpeas
Sprinkle the fried chickpeas on top of the hummus mixture, followed by a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of za'atar and fresh thyme.
5. Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbling.
6. Serve
Remove from the oven, let it cool slightly, and serve warm with pita bread or fresh vegetables.
