Preparation

Preparation of Base

1. Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

3. Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, mix the milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.

4. Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.

5. Pour into Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

6. Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

7. Cool

Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Preparation of Toppings

8. Prepare Strawberries

While the base is cooling, wash and slice the fresh strawberries.

9. Sweeten Strawberries

In a small bowl, sprinkle the sliced strawberries with powdered sugar and let them sit for about 10 minutes to develop juices.

10. Prepare Whipped Cream

In a mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.

Assembly

11. Serve

Once the base is completely cool, cut it into squares and serve topped with the sweetened strawberries and a dollop of whipped cream.
