Baking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven and Pan

Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a 9-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine the dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and eggs until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture, stirring continuously. Add in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt.

  5. 5

    Add Flour

Gently fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Bake the Torte

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  7. 7

    Cool and Serve

Allow the torte to cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely. Serve as is or dust with powdered sugar.
