Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prep the Vegetables

Dice the onion, green bell pepper, and mince the garlic cloves.

  2. 2

    Rinse Beans

Open the canned kidney and black beans, drain and rinse them under cold water.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Beef

In a large pot over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 6-8 minutes.

  2. 4

    Add Vegetables

Add the diced onions, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the pot. Cook for an additional 5 minutes until the vegetables are softened.

  3. 5

    Stir in Tomatoes and Beans

Pour in the canned diced tomatoes, and add the rinsed kidney and black beans. Stir to combine.

  4. 6

    Add Spices

Sprinkle the chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper over the mixture. Stir well to evenly distribute the spices.

  5. 7

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let the chili simmer for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve the Chili

Ladle the chili into cups or bowls. Top each serving with a dollop of sour cream, a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese, and a garnish of chopped green onions.
