Pasta

Cheese Sauce

Method

Cooking Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Pasta

In a large pot, bring water to a rolling boil. Add 2 cups of macaroni pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Making Cheese Sauce

  1. 3

    Melt the Butter

In the same pot used for the pasta, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.

  2. 4

    Add Flour

Once the butter is melted, whisk in 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour. Continue to whisk for about 1 minute until the mixture is bubbly and golden.

  3. 5

    Add Milk

Gradually pour in 2 cups of milk while whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Cook for about 3-5 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.

  4. 6

    Add Cheese and Seasonings

Lower the heat and stir in 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese, 0.5 teaspoons of salt, 0.25 teaspoons of black pepper, and 0.25 teaspoons of paprika. Stir until the cheese is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.

Combine and Serve

  1. 7

    Combine Pasta and Sauce

Add the drained macaroni pasta back into the pot with the cheese sauce. Stir well until the pasta is fully coated with the sauce.

  2. 8

    Serve

Remove from heat and serve immediately. You can garnish with extra cheese or a sprinkle of paprika if desired.
