Method
Brewing the Tea
- 1
Boil Water
In a large pot, bring 16 cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat.
- 2
Steep Tea
Once the water is boiling, remove it from the heat and add 8 black tea bags. Allow the tea to steep for about 10-15 minutes, depending on how strong you prefer your tea.
- 3
Remove Tea Bags
After steeping, carefully remove the tea bags from the pot and discard them.
Sweetening the Tea
- 4
Add Sugar
While the tea is still warm, stir in 2 cups of granulated sugar until fully dissolved. Adjust the amount of sugar to your taste if desired.
- 5
Chill the Tea
Once the sugar is dissolved, let the tea cool to room temperature before transferring it to a gallon-sized container.
- 6
Add Lemon (Optional)
If desired, add lemon slices to the tea for added flavor. Stir gently to combine.
- 7
Refrigerate
Place the container in the refrigerator and let it chill for at least 2 hours before serving. This allows the flavors to meld.
Serving
- 8
Serve Cold
Serve the sweet tea over ice in tall glasses. Garnish with additional lemon slices if desired.
