Method
Prepare the Fried Chicken
Marinate the Chicken
In a bowl, combine the buttermilk, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Add the chicken breasts and ensure they are fully submerged. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, place the all-purpose flour. You can add more paprika, salt, and pepper to the flour for extra flavor if desired.
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each piece in the flour mixture, ensuring a good coating. Carefully place the coated chicken into the hot oil and fry for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Use a thermometer to ensure the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). Remove and place on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
Assemble the Sandwich
Add Condiments
Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise on the inside of each bun.
Layer the Ingredients
On the bottom half of each bun, place a fried chicken breast, followed by a handful of leafy greens, a slice of tomato, and pickles.
Complete the Sandwich
Top with the other half of the bun. Serve immediately while hot.
