Fries

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Preparing the Potatoes

Wash and peel the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick, to create fries.

  2. 2

    Soaking the Fries

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and makes them crispier.

  3. 3

    Drying the Fries

After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  4. 4

    Heating the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to ensure the oil is at the right temperature.

  5. 5

    Frying the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried fries in batches to the hot oil. Fry them for about 4-6 minutes or until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove them using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Seasoning the Fries

While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper to taste. Toss gently to coat.

  7. 7

    Serving

Serve the fresh-cut fries immediately while they're still hot and crispy. Enjoy them as a snack or side dish!
