Method
Preparing the Sticky Rice
- 1
Soak the Rice
Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours, or overnight for the best results.
- 2
Cook the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel. Steam the rice for about 30-35 minutes until it becomes tender and sticky.
Making the Coconut Sauce
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat the mixture over medium heat until the sugar dissolves, but do not bring it to a boil.
- 4
Prepare Sticky Rice with Sauce
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and pour about half of the coconut sauce over it. Stir gently to combine and let it sit for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Preparing the Mango
- 5
Slice the Mango
Peel the ripe mangoes and slice them into thin strips or cubes. Set them aside for serving.
Assembly
- 6
Serve the Dish
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top it with the sliced mango, and drizzle with the remaining coconut sauce. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds and add mint leaves for garnish.
