Method

Preparation of Cassava

  1. 1

    Peel the Cassava

Using a sharp knife, carefully peel the outer brown skin of the cassava root until you reach the white inner flesh.

  2. 2

    Cut into Pieces

Cut the peeled cassava into 2-inch chunks for even cooking.

Cooking the Cassava

  1. 3

    Boil Water

In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat.

  2. 4

    Cook Cassava

Add the cassava chunks to the boiling water. Reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer for about 20-25 minutes, or until the cassava is tender when pierced with a fork.

  3. 5

    Drain the Cassava

Once cooked, carefully drain the cassava in a colander to remove excess water.

Seasoning the Cassava

  1. 6

    Add Seasoning

In a large bowl, add the drained cassava, salt, butter, garlic powder, black pepper, and lemon juice. Toss gently to coat the cassava evenly with the seasonings.

  2. 7

    Serve

Transfer the seasoned cassava to a serving platter and serve warm as a side dish or main dish.
