Preparation Steps

1

Prepare the Base

In a medium saucepan, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar has fully dissolved and the mixture is warm but not boiling.

2

Chill the Mixture

Remove the saucepan from heat and allow the mixture to cool to room temperature. Once cool, cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results.

3

Churn the Gelato

Once chilled, pour the mixture into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

4

Add Seasonal Flavors

During the last few minutes of churning, add your choice of seasonal ingredients (e.g., pureed fruits, chocolate chips, or nuts) to incorporate them evenly.

5

Freeze the Gelato

Transfer the churned gelato into pint containers. Cover and freeze for at least 4 hours, or until firm.
