Hot Apple Pie Ingredients
Method
Preparation Steps
Prepare the Apple Filling
In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss until the apples are well coated. Set aside.
Make the Pie Crust
In another bowl, mix the flour and cold butter with a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Add 3 tablespoons of cold water and mix until a dough forms. Roll out the dough on a floured surface.
Assemble the Pie
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the rolled-out dough into a pie dish, fill it with the apple mixture, and cover with another layer of dough. Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape. Bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the apples are bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
Serve the Sundae
Once the pie is baked and slightly cooled, cut a slice and place it in a bowl. Top with a scoop of vanilla or caramel ice cream. Drizzle with caramel sauce and add whipped cream as desired.
