Method
Muffuletta Preparation
Prepare the Olive Salad
In a medium bowl, combine the olive salad ingredients (green olives, black olives, garlic, and spices). Mix well and set aside.
Slice the Bread
Slice the muffuletta bread horizontally in half, creating a top and bottom half.
Layer the Meats and Cheese
On the bottom half of the bread, layer the salami, ham, mortadella, provolone cheese, mozzarella cheese, and fresh basil leaves.
Add the Olive Salad
Spread the prepared olive salad evenly over the layered meats and cheese.
Drizzle with Olive Oil
Drizzle the olive oil over the top of the olive salad.
Close and Press
Place the top half of the bread on the sandwich. Press down gently to compress the sandwich.
Slice and Serve
Slice the muffuletta into quarters and serve immediately or wrap and refrigerate for a few hours for flavors to meld.
