Seaweed Preparation

Garlic Sauce

Method

Seaweed Preparation

  1. 1

    Soak the Seaweed

In a large bowl, combine the dried seaweed with 3 cups of water. Allow it to soak for about 10-15 minutes until it becomes tender and rehydrates.

  2. 2

    Drain and Rinse

Once the seaweed is rehydrated, drain the water and rinse the seaweed under cold running water to remove excess salt and impurities.

Garlic Sauce

  1. 3

    Heat the Olive Oil

In a medium saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat until it shimmers.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the hot oil and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, stirring frequently, until the garlic is fragrant and golden, but not burnt.

  3. 5

    Add Soy Sauce and Oils

Reduce the heat to low, then add 2 tablespoons of soy sauce and 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to the pan. Stir to combine.

  4. 6

    Add Red Pepper Flakes

Sprinkle in 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, adjusting the amount based on your spice preference. Stir well to incorporate.

  5. 7

    Combine with Seaweed

Add the drained seaweed to the pan, tossing it gently in the garlic sauce to coat evenly. Allow it to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  6. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat, and garnish with toasted sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Serve warm or at room temperature.
