Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation of Rice

1

Soak the Rice

Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight for best results.

2

Steam the Rice

Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam the rice over boiling water for about 30-40 minutes, or until the rice is tender and translucent.

Coconut Sauce

3

Prepare the Coconut Sauce

In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Do not let it boil. Reserve 1/4 cup of the sauce for serving.

Combining Ingredients

4

Mix Rice with Coconut Sauce

Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl. Pour the remaining coconut sauce over the hot rice and mix well. Let it sit for about 20 minutes to absorb the flavors.

5

Prepare the Mango

Peel the ripe mangoes and cut them into thin slices.

Serving

6

Plate the Dish

To serve, place a generous scoop of the sticky rice on a plate, arrange the mango slices beside it, and drizzle the reserved coconut sauce on top. Sprinkle with sesame seeds or mung beans for garnish.
