Instructions
1. Prepare the Blackberries
In a medium saucepan, combine the blackberries and 2 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes until the blackberries are soft.
2. Strain the Mixture
Remove the saucepan from heat and strain the blackberry mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a large bowl, pressing the solids to extract as much juice as possible. Discard the solids.
3. Combine Ingredients
In the same saucepan, add the strained blackberry juice, the remaining 2 cups of water, sugar, cinnamon stick, vanilla extract, and salt. Stir well to combine.
4. Thicken with Masa Harina
In a separate bowl, whisk the masa harina with a small amount of the blackberry mixture to create a smooth paste. Gradually add this paste back into the saucepan, stirring constantly to prevent lumps.
5. Cook the Drink
Return the saucepan to medium heat and cook the mixture, stirring frequently, for about 10 to 15 minutes until it thickens to your desired consistency.
