Catfish Nuggets
Method
Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Catfish
Cut the catfish fillets into bite-sized nuggets and place them in a bowl.
Marinate the Fish
Pour the buttermilk over the catfish nuggets and let them marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a separate bowl, combine the cornmeal, flour, cajun seasoning, salt, and black pepper.
Coat the Nuggets
Remove the catfish from the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off. Dredge each nugget in the cornmeal mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
Fry the Nuggets
Carefully add the catfish nuggets to the hot oil in batches, frying until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Serve
Serve the catfish nuggets hot with tartar sauce on the side and lemon wedges for squeezing.
