Pie Crust

Method

Pie Preparation

1

Make the Pie Crust

In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the ice water, a tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Divide the dough into two discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.

2

Roll Out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out one disc of dough to fit your pie pan. Transfer the rolled-out dough to the pie pan, pressing it gently into the bottom and sides.

3

Fill the Pie

Add your desired pie filling (such as apple, cherry, or pumpkin) into the prepared crust.

4

Top the Pie

Roll out the second disc of dough and place it over the filling. Seal the edges by crimping with your fingers or a fork. Cut slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape.

5

Bake the Pie

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake the pie for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for 30-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.

6

Cool and Serve

Allow the pie to cool for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve at room temperature or warmed, with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
