Baking Instructions
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Allow it to sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well.
- 3
Combine and Knead
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 5
Incorporate Seasonal Ingredients
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and fold in the seasonal ingredients of your choice.
- 6
Shape and Second Rise
Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let it rise again for about 30-45 minutes.
- 7
Preheat the Oven
While the dough is rising, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 8
Bake the Bread
Once risen, bake the bread in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
- 9
Cool and Serve
Remove the bread from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
