1. Prepare Rice Cake Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, water, and salt. Stir until smooth and well combined.
2. Steam the Batter
Pour the batter into a greased baking dish and steam for about 30 minutes until set. Let it cool, then cut into sticks.
3. Coat with Cornstarch
Dredge the rice sticks in cornstarch to coat evenly. This will help them become crispy when fried.
4. Fry the Rice Sticks
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Fry the coated rice sticks until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
5. Make the Sweet & Spicy Sauce
In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, Sriracha sauce, and minced garlic. Heat over medium heat until the sugar dissolves and the sauce thickens slightly, about 5 minutes.
6. Serve
Drizzle the sweet and spicy sauce over the fried rice sticks and garnish with chopped green onions. Serve hot.
