Fried Shrimp Breading (Optional)

Method

For Blackened Shrimp

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil and blackening seasoning until evenly coated.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

Heat a cast-iron skillet over high heat until it is very hot.

  3. 3

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are charred and cooked through.

For Fried Shrimp

  1. 4

    Prepare the Breading

In one bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, salt, and black pepper. In another bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together.

  2. 5

    Coat the Shrimp

Dip each shrimp first in the egg mixture and then in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.

  3. 6

    Heat Oil for Frying

In a deep skillet or fryer, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 7

    Fry the Shrimp

Fry the shrimp in batches for about 2-3 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove and drain on paper towels.
