Directions
- 1
Prepare the Calamari
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk and the sliced calamari. Let it marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.
- 2
Make the Coating
In another bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika.
- 3
Coat the Calamari
Remove the calamari from the buttermilk and let the excess liquid drip off. Dip the calamari into the flour mixture, ensuring they are well-coated.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
- 5
Fry the Calamari
Fry the calamari in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan.
- 6
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried calamari with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce for dipping and garnish with fresh parsley.
