Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into even sticks, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water and soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the soaked potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel.

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add the dried potato sticks to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 4-5 minutes until golden and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and drain on paper towels. While still hot, sprinkle with salt, paprika, garlic powder, and black pepper to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the fries hot as a side dish or snack.
