Flan Ingredients

Method

Flan Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Caramel

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt the granulated sugar until it turns a deep amber color. Be careful not to burn it. Once melted, quickly pour the caramel into a round flan mold or individual ramekins, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.

  2. 2

    Make the Custard

In a blender, combine the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth and well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine and Bake

Pour the custard mixture over the cooled caramel in the mold. Place the mold in a larger baking dish and fill the baking dish with water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan mold. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 50-60 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted comes out clean.

  4. 4

    Cool and Serve

Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan, invert onto a serving plate, and enjoy!
