Method

Preparation of the Sandwich

1

Assemble the Sandwich

Take two slices of bread and layer the ham, turkey or chicken, and Swiss cheese in between them. Top with the other two slices of bread to create a sandwich.

2

Whisk the Batter

In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until well combined.

3

Coat the Sandwich

Dip the assembled sandwich into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated.

Cooking

4

Heat the Skillet

In a large skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat.

5

Cook the Sandwich

Once the butter is melted, carefully place the coated sandwich in the skillet. Cook for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and the cheese is melted.

6

Repeat Cooking Process

Add more butter as necessary and repeat with the remaining sandwiches.

Serving

7

Plate the Monte Carlo Cristo

Once cooked, remove the sandwich from the skillet and place it on a plate.

8

Add Toppings

Sprinkle powdered sugar on top. Serve with fresh fruit, marmalade, and maple syrup on the side.
