Main Ingredients

Seasoning and Marinade

Optional Toppings

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Rub this marinade all over the ribeye steak and let it sit for at least 30 minutes at room temperature or refrigerate for up to 2 hours for more flavor.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Cheese

Slice the mozzarella and American cheese into thin slices, if not pre-sliced. Set aside.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated ribeye steak. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until it reaches your preferred doneness. Use a meat thermometer for accuracy (130°F for medium-rare).

  2. 4

    Melt the Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place the mozzarella and American cheese on top of the steak. Cover the grill or skillet with a lid to help the cheese melt. Cook for an additional minute until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  1. 5

    Rest and Slice

Remove the steak from the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute. After resting, slice the steak against the grain.

  2. 6

    Plate the Steak

Serve the steak on a plate, optionally topped with fresh basil, tomato slices, and lettuce as desired. Enjoy your OH! Zone steak!
