Calzone Ingredients

Method

Calzone Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Dough

Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). On a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a circle about 12 inches in diameter.

  2. 2

    Add the Cheese

Spread the ricotta cheese evenly over one half of the dough circle. Then, sprinkle the mozzarella cheese over the ricotta.

  3. 3

    Choose Your Fillings

Select up to four ingredients from the list provided (e.g., pepperoni, bell peppers, mushrooms, sausage, olives, spinach). Place the selected ingredients evenly over the cheese.

  4. 4

    Season the Filling

Sprinkle Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper over the fillings to enhance the flavor.

  5. 5

    Seal the Calzone

Fold the other half of the dough over the filled side. Press the edges together to seal tightly. You can crimp the edges with a fork for an extra seal.

  6. 6

    Prepare for Baking

Transfer the calzone to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cut a few small slits on top of the calzone to allow steam to escape during baking.

  7. 7

    Bake the Calzone

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until the calzone is golden brown.

  8. 8

    Serve

Let the calzone cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with pizza sauce on the side for dipping.
