Chicken Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Season the chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- 2
Dredge the Chicken
Set up a dredging station with three shallow plates: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs. Dip each seasoned chicken breast first in the flour, coating it evenly, then in the egg, and finally in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere the breadcrumbs.
Cooking the Chicken
- 3
Fry the Chicken
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded chicken breasts and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the skillet and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Topping Preparation
- 4
Assemble the Chicken Parmesan
In a baking dish, spread half of the marinara sauce on the bottom. Place the fried chicken breasts on top of the sauce. Spoon the remaining marinara sauce over the chicken, then sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Baking
- 5
Bake the Chicken
Transfer the baking dish to the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 6
Garnish and Serve
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly. Garnish with fresh basil if desired. Serve hot with your favorite side dishes.
